David Garrett

Assistant Director

After studying English and drama in York, David entered a career in education, in which teaching drama loomed large.

David Garrett - Assistant Director He left teaching, having become deputy head teacher of a large Tyneside comprehensive school, to begin a new career in local government.

David was formerly Arts and Cultural Development Officer for the Borough of Blyth Valley and is now manager of Blyth Town Centre.

He maintains his links with education via his attachment to one of the country's leading examinations boards, for which he is Regional Principal Examiner in Drama, Theatre and Performing Arts.

David has been Theatre Director at The Phoenix since its re-opening in 1997 and chair of the Arts and Community Association for many more years than he is prepared to admit.
