Jacqui Coghlan |
Choreographer |
||||
|
Jacqui Coghlan studied music at Cambridge University and began working there as a choreographer for student productions. She worked with a talented group of young artists, such as the choreographer Jenny Arnold, who have since gone on to become established figures in the world of film, dance and music theatre.
After a period with an all girl band, Girls and the Great Csar, which was big hit on the London Cabaret scene, Jacqui worked as an administrator at the English National Opera and at The RSC. She then went on to co-found, with artistic director Carol Metcalf, The Bridewell Theatre, which rapidly established an international reputation as a venue for experimental and cutting edge music theatre. She produced a string of hit shows there including On the Twentieth Century and a previously unperformed work by Stephen Sondheim. |

In 2004, Jacqui acted as choreographer for The People Must
Pay and is pictured here rehearsing the cast in the opening number, Ring Any Bells Rap. The style of the music complements the cast's modern
costume, before the setting of the show moves into the Victorian era.
Jacqui is now Director of Camberwell Arts Week, a festival of Contemporary Art, Music and Dance in South London. |
